Good morning, and a happy Friday! Adonai (my Lord) is good and His mercies endure forever.
John 15:16 says:
You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you
might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever
you ask in my name the Father will give you.
As I read this
passage, it kinda jumped out at me that He chose us. Yes, we (his
children) had to choose to accept His gift of salvation, but He
sought us out.
How is this helpful?
We all know that God wants all men to come to him. How is this
special? It is special because out of the 7+ billion people on this
earth, he took the effort and time to remove the obstacles that
blocked us from coming to Him. He dedicated Himself to reaching us.
We are extremely valuable to God.
Remember the parable
of the Kingdom of Heaven? In Matthew 13:45-46, Jesus says,
“Again, the Kingdom of Heaven is like a merchant on the lookout for
fine pearls. On finding one very valuable pearl he went away, sold
everything he owned and bought it."
To Jesus, we (each
of us) are that pearl, and He is that merchant. He gave up ALL He had
to purchase us from the slavery of sin. We are that valuable to Him.
Today, let us
remember this and walk in the confidence of His love. Don't doubt His
love for us, but instead thank Him and praise Him for it.
